Staff and Board

Meet Our Team

We are trained specialists.

We love what we do. It’s not always easy, but that’s what makes it so meaningful. Reach’s clinical staff are all licensed masters level therapists, certified advanced alcohol and drug counselors, and are experienced in treating co-occurring mental health conditions and trauma.

Admissions Team

This team will welcome you to Reach for Recovery when you visit and will ensure that we have all the needed information throughout your treatment journey.

It has been an honor to help individuals navigate treatment for over 20 years. It is incredible getting to meet people and help when they need it most.

I am passionate about watching people’s lives change with treatment.

I am passionate about addiction medicine because it allows me to support people during some of the most vulnerable points in their lives. As an Admissions Coordinator, I take pride in being the first point of contact for clients, guiding and supporting them as they begin their recovery journey. I also serve as a Development Assistant, where I help strengthen staff connections, support development marketing and social media efforts, and build meaningful relationships within our community.

Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and our two kids, traveling, exploring the outdoors, and enjoying quality time together. I also prioritize self-care through reading, fitness, running, and connecting with friends.

I serve as the first point of contact for clients, guiding them through the intake process with compassion and ensuring a positive experience. I am dedicated to creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels supported in their recovery journey.

Clinicians

This is Reach for Recovery’s team of therapists who will walk with you and support you in pursuing your recovery.

Tara received her Masters of Social Work from Western Michigan University and carries with her over 25 years of clinical experience at Reach. There is little that Tara has not seen. Tara believes in meeting people where they are at and recognizes the challenges and the courage it takes for people to reach out for help.

Amy graduated from Central Methodist University with a degree in Clinical Counseling. Amy enjoys helping people to discover who they are without the use of substances.  Outside of work, Amy enjoys being with her family – especially when they are camping or traveling.

Peter was born in Pontiac, MI, and raised in Grand Haven, MI. He earned both his BSW and MSW at Grand Valley State University School of Social Work.

Peter’s hobbies largely consist of outdoor activities such as backpacking, practicing bushcraft skills, and walking with his dog.  In his journey of becoming an Eagle Scout, he had partaken in a great deal of mentoring. He later discovered that social work had a unique branch known as Adventure or Experiential Therapy. His passion for being outdoors and helping individuals had become a dream come true!

When I was around 12 years old, after reading “To Kill a Mockingbird”, my purpose in life was to help others. I graduated with my MSW from Western Michigan University in 2023, after having worked in healthcare for over 12 years. Working with those in the recovery community has been a blessing for me. Yes, there are stories of heartbreak and sadness, but I also am able to watch clients grow in strength, hope, and forgiveness. My hope for those who come into treatment is that they are able to find a safe space, where they are not judged by the decisions they’ve made or the company they may keep. We ALL are flawed, finding various ways to cope with the stress of daily living; we all do what we do for a reason. I am humbled that I might be able to help guide people onto a path of recovery, but even more, that I am given an opportunity to help them see their own worth.

When I am not working, I can be found spending time with my family or sipping coffee with one of the hundreds of books on my to-read list. I also enjoy watching sports (of ANY kind) or enjoying a walk outdoors.

Rebecca is a clinician in the Holland office. She is new to the Holland area and brings with her a strong background in mental health and co-occurring disorders. She is passionate about helping others find their worth and value in life. She shares “I once was lost and now I’m found. Everyone is worthy of being found and set free from their bondages.”

Allen Jake is a proud graduate of Western Michigan University who brings a blend of clinical training and real-world wisdom to his work. With a deep commitment to underrepresented communities, gender equity, and LGBTQIA+ advocacy, he shows up for people from all walks of life with compassion, respect, and a good dose of humility. Before becoming a therapist, Allen spent 33 years doing what he calls “field research” in the world of addiction and mental health — lived experience that now informs every session he holds. He draws strength from the 12th Step principle: “Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to alcoholics and practice these principles in all our affairs.” In session, Allen combines tools like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Motivational Interviewing, client-centered therapy, the Socratic method, and experiential work — all filtered through a holistic lens. His approach helps clients strengthen critical thinking, take ownership of their emotions, and build recovery paths that are truly their own.

When he’s not in session, Allen enjoys biking, hiking, metal sculpting, cracking a good joke, and being a lifelong learner. He believes in showing up real, walking alongside his clients — and never forgetting where he came from.

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in Integrative Holistic Healthcare and Medicine from Western Michigan University. My journey to this role is rooted in my passion for supporting individuals through their recovery and offering empathy, compassion and an open mind. I believe in meeting individuals where they’re at and creating an empowering environment for clients to achieve their goals. I came to Reach due to our organization’s passion for comprehensive care and a supportive learning environment to further my career.

In my free time, I like to spend time with my partner, draw or paint, watch scary movies, and spend time in the sun!

Medical Team

Reach for Recovery has a medical team that manages medication, coordinates care, and ensures that you are receiving the best medical care in your journey.

I am honored to be part of Reach for Recovery as a Medication Assisted Treatment Provider. I bring both a personal and professional understanding of substance use disorder (SUD) that has shaped my commitment to compassionate, evidenced based care. My desire for the success of others who struggle is sincere and deeply rooted in the belief that recovery is possible for everyone. I embrace the organization’s philosophy that recognizes SUD as a chronic disease requiring ongoing, comprehensive care. Having worked in various areas of healthcare since the late 1980s, I have witnessed the evolution of SUD treatment from punitive approaches to today’s harm-reduction model that honors dignity, hope, and shared decision-making. I find deep purpose in walking alongside individuals on their recovery journeys, supporting progress across all areas of life.

Outside of work, I enjoy time with family, and friends, staying active with my three-year-old Lab Monica Joan, and finding peace in nature, reading, walking, and cooking; these are moments that remind me of balance and gratitude.

Linda Rossman is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner with more than 30 years of clinical experience. From 1995 to 2021, she served as a Nurse Practitioner at Emergency Care Specialists in the Emergency Department at Corewell Health – Butterworth Hospital. In addition to her work in emergency medicine, Linda was a long-time practitioner with the YWCA West Central Michigan Nurse Examiner Program. There, she played a pivotal role in establishing Michigan’s first forensic nursing program and spent over 25 years providing compassionate care to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence.

In 2021, Linda joined Reach for Recovery, contributing her expertise to the launch of its Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) program. She is deeply committed to reducing the stigma surrounding substance use disorders and advocates for patient-centered care that empowers individuals to rebuild their lives.

I am honored to serve as a Medical Assistant at Reach for Recovery, bringing both professional experience and a heart rooted in compassion. My work in the recovery community, alongside continued 1:1 and respite care in the I/DD community, allows me to support individuals with empathy, respect, and a commitment to meeting them where they are.

Through my own journey of growth and sobriety, I’ve come to understand the importance of feeling seen, heard, and supported. I strive to create a safe, welcoming space where individuals feel valued and encouraged as they move forward in their healing.

My approach is grounded in connection: listening without judgment, offering support, and walking alongside others as they rediscover their strength and purpose.

Case Managers

Reach for Recovery case managers work with you to ensure that you have access to resources and supports needed to pursue sobriety.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in Social Work with a minor in Psychology from Grand Valley State University. I came to Reach for Recovery as a recent graduate slightly unsure of what I truly want to do. With that said I knew where my heart was within this field and that is supporting individuals through their life journey in the best way that I can.

Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my friends and family, going to concerts and any outdoor activity.

Steven is a person with lived experience actively engaging in recovery continuously since 2015. He became a Certified Peer Recovery Coach in 2017 and has been working in the field of addiction since 2019.

His career path starts as a peer coach in a hospital setting, then shifting into SUD outpatient. In 2021, he moved into an Addiction Counselor role in completing his CADC and has worked in settings including outpatient, detox, residential, and with the perinatal population. He has a passion for this work and specializes in bringing mindfulness, acceptance, and 12-step integration into his work with others.

I graduated with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Grand Valley State University in 2023 and graduated with my Master’s degree in Social Work from Grand Valley State University in 2026. I have spent the past four years working in the mental health field, where I’ve developed a strong passion for helping people navigate challenges, build resilience, and create meaningful change in their lives. I strive to create a supportive, nonjudgmental space where clients feel comfortable being themselves. I believe in meeting people where they are at and walking alongside them as they grow and heal.

Outside of work, I enjoy being a plant mom, reading, and spending time with family and friends, which helps me stay grounded and balanced. I aim to bring that same sense of mindfulness and presence into my work, supporting clients in finding what helps them feel centered and fulfilled.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in social work with a minor in sociology from Hope College. I started at Reach as an intern and quickly grew a strong passion for this field. Seeing clients in recovery is a transformative experience that I feel grateful to witness. I strive to meet clients where they are and be a valuable resource in their recovery.

Outside of work I am also a student at the University of Michigan (Go Blue!) where I am pursuing a master’s in social work. In my free time I enjoy going to concerts, spending time at the beach, and enjoying time with my friends and family.

Recovery Coaches

Our recovery coaches are individuals with lived experience, who provide support and resource connection to assist you in your recovery journey.

As a child I enjoyed stories of brave knights slaying dragons. Today I enjoy helping warriors learn to fight for their lives and the lives of their family members. I really feel honored to meet folks on the street who are happy to tell me about their new life.

Outside of work, I enjoy weightlifting, running and hiking a long trail in the woods.

I understand through a wide range of lived experiences, that recovery is a multidimensional journey of action, discoveries, and maintenance and not a destination. I am passionate about walking alongside others at any stage of the journey, removing barriers, and sharing the many resources and gifts I’ve discovered through various pathways.

Together we can be the voice of recovery and build the recovery community.

Operations

Our operations team ensures that Reach for Recovery runs smoothly behind the scenes – even though you won’t work with them face to face.

I joined Reach for Recovery in 2020 as a Residential Aide at Chester Ray, and my journey with the organization has grown alongside my passion for this work. Since then, I’ve served as a Recovery Coach (2021), Senior Recovery Coach (2023), Residential Program Supervisor (2024), Interim Executive Director in early 2025, and I have been honored to serve as Executive Director since August 2025.

I am a person in long-term recovery since June 13, 2015, and I’ve remained actively involved in the recovery communities throughout Kent and Ottawa Counties. My personal and professional experiences deeply inform my commitment to this field and to the individuals we serve every day.

I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, with a specialization in Human Resource Management, from Davenport University in 2006, graduating with honors. I bring a blend of lived experience, leadership development, and organizational management to my role.

My “why” is simple: I believe God gave me a second chance at life, and I feel called to share that with others. I often reflect on the paradox of recovery—that I can only keep what I have by giving it away—which continues to guide both my work and my leadership.

My leadership style is collaborative and person-centered. I believe an organization’s greatest asset is its people—those who choose to show up each day in service of the mission. My goal is to support and empower our team so they can do their best work, ultimately creating meaningful, lasting impact for the individuals and communities we serve.

Supporting individuals and families on their journey to recovery involves creating a safe, welcoming, space where they can heal, rebuild, and rediscover their strength. Every day brings new opportunities to ensure our operations are running smoothly and facilities are looking their best for our clients to begin to build a new future of possibilities and staff to walk alongside them. Together, we transform lives, break the cycle, and build healthier families and ultimately a stronger West Michigan community. I’m proud to say that I get to be part of this life saving work, every day.

Sheila began her social work career in 1988 after earning her MSW from Indiana University. In Indiana, she helped establish the state’s second hospital-based child protection team. Since moving to Michigan in 2017, Sheila has provided addiction-focused counseling in private practice and through the 58th District Sobriety Treatment Court. She also serves on the Michigan Association of Treatment Court Professionals Board and the Michigan State Drug Treatment Court Advisory Committee.

Sheila and her husband, Jeff, have four adult children and seven grandchildren. She enjoys yard work, reading, art, and time outdoors.

After relocating from the West Coast, I’m delighted to now call Michigan home and to be part of the inspiring Reach for Recovery community. It’s a privilege to join a group so deeply committed to uplifting others and making a meaningful impact. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Sonoma State University and bring a strong foundation in human services and behavioral health to my work.

As a member of the billing department, I recognize the critical role accurate and efficient billing plays in supporting the organization’s mission. By ensuring financial operations run smoothly, I help maintain the integrity of our services and contribute to the sustainability of the care we provide. I take pride in being part of the behind-the-scenes efforts that allow our team to focus on what matters most—helping individuals on their path to recovery.

Outside of work, I enjoy cooking, staying active, and spending quality time with my husband, our two teenagers, and our dogs. Sunshine is my happy place!

Witnessing the impact of addiction in the lives of people I know and love has ignited a passion in me to help others overcome this disease.

I am grateful to be part of this team of professionals who are committed to providing the needed services for clients so they can achieve long-term sobriety.

Outside of work I get to be a wife, mom and nana to some of the best humans in the world who continually teach me that each day is a gift worth living and to live it intentionally and joyfully.

As an administrative assistant,  I am honored to be part of a team that works so hard to care for others in need and bring hope into their futures.

I am a grateful member of the recovery community and cherish the beautiful life recovery has given me. I’m a proud mother, and my son means the world to me. I believe wholeheartedly that one addict helping another is without parallel. My heart is for helping others—especially women—on their recovery journeys. I meet them exactly where they are, walking alongside them as they learn to love themselves and recognize their worth and value.

I feel honored to love others until they can love themselves, supporting them as they navigate their way into healthy, fulfilling, and productive lives.
