MEDICATION-ASSISTED TREATMENT PROGRAM EXPANDS IN HOLLAND

Medication-Assisted Treatment Program Expands In Holland

Enhanced Treatment Adds Staff

HOLLAND, MI, April 3, 2023 – Drug overdose deaths continue to rise, and the demand for substance use disorder (SUD) treatment in west Michigan is greater than ever. Reach for Recovery, a Holland-based nonprofit treating those who struggle with addiction and substance use disorder, recently received funds from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), allowing Reach to increase SUD services significantly. Reach is often the only local treatment provider to accept clients regardless of their ability to pay.

The ARPA funds will allow Reach for Recovery to double the number of clients in the Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) for Opioid Use Disorder program. These funds will also help to expand primary healthcare services at Reach’s two residential treatment facilities. The expanded services will positively impact both individuals and the community, as addiction has a detrimental effect on healthcare and criminal justice systems, traffic safety, family health and stability, and numerous other quality-of-life issues.

“We are excited about this opportunity to provide more treatment and care to those who need it most, while continuing our current programs,” said David Teater, Executive Director at Reach for Recovery.

About Medication-Assisted Treatment

MAT is a proven treatment that combines medication and behavioral therapy to treat substance use disorders. Medicines prescribed are evidenced-based, clinically driven, and personalized to meet the needs of each client.  Reach for Recovery launched the MAT program at both its Holland and Grand Haven offices in October 2021.

Reach admits about 160 clients each year to two residential treatment programs.  Many of these clients are un-housed, and few have primary care physicians when they arrive at Reach facilities. These funds will allow Reach for Recovery to add staff and services to increase primary healthcare and improve treatment outcomes.
